Two words that stared at me from my screen on my new laptop. Me and my colleague Nives smiled nervously knowing that the first day at new company is always hard. You are hungry, confused with so many information and frightened by the amount of work.
But that was not the case at Local Heroes. We were surrounded by colleagues that wanted to share their knowledge and passion as well as valued experience from past years.
But let’s get back to where all started.

I travelled with my parents since I was a little kid and travelling soon became a part of who I am. We visited all the parts of Croatia, tried various cuisine, gained new memories. Later on, my career started in tourism, but I could not find that one space and people who are as passioned as me regarding the travel experience. Not until I became Local Hero. 😊
I’m frequently asked, “What makes Local Heroes so special and why do you love what you do?” Other than being thankful for the new places I’ve learned about, it’s the people. Each bringing their own experience, excitement for travel, creative ideas… and their enthusiasm. A whole new world opened for me, new travel ideas and performances at top level. My colleague Nives and I arrived at the same date in the company, both with new, innovative ideas that were embraced with no hesitation. I believe that we also brought more laughter, especially Nives whose optimism is there for us when the days seems a bit cloudier.
Travel, for me, has always been associated with learning new languages and cultures, but sometimes you don’t need to go far to learn so much, you just need to have real team members.
